Educational Opportunities

AgriLife Extension has a fantastic county network and through our County Extension Agents, we offer wild pig educational opportunities across Texas in support of county programs, watershed coordinators, volunteer organizations, and the general public.  Trainings can be catered to the specific needs/concerns of the audience, but typically are offered as either 1-3 hour programs or one day workshops.  Programs can be conducted on site as a demonstration or outdoor field day, but can also be held at an indoor venue in a classroom style format.  Workshops often involve both a classroom and outdoor demonstration component.  Each hour of educational training (both programming and workshops) can qualify the participant to receive continuing education units (CEUs) depending on the training topic and event.

Wild Pig Programming

Educational programming is a great way for landowners to gain insight on a variety of wild pig related topics while also receiving continuing education credits.  Topics vary depending on the specific needs of the audience, however examples of the kinds of programs offered include:

Remote, Web-based and Distance Education Programming

The Wild Pig Management Video Series is currently available online.  The full series runs just over 37 minutes and can be viewed as an alternative to face-to-face educational programming.  We would be happy to share digital copies of the series for those lacking internet access at programming locations.

Recorded webinars could be used to address a group need or send to individuals.

A one-hour wild pig presentation in PowerPoint format can be provided upon request for County Extension Agents to present at face-to-face educational events.  Please contact josh.helcel@tamu.edu if interested.

Two narrated wild pig educational presentations (1. Using Wild Pig Biology as a Basis for Management narrated by Mark Tyson and 2. Wild Pig Control Techniques narrated by Josh Helcel) are available upon request.  These 1-hour presentations will be in PowerPoint format and will work similar to a video.  Please contact josh.helcel@tamu.edu if interested.
