Leon County Wild Pig Management Workshop

The Leon County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Wild Pig Management Workshop on May 1 at the Cowboy Church of Leon County, located at 1419 Highway 7 in Centerville. The workshop will be from 8:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. There is no cost to participate in the workshop. There will be an optional lunch provided, and if you would like to enjoy the catered meal, the cost is $15 pre-registration ($20 at the door). Preregistration by April 27 is required. To pre-register, call the Leon County Extension Office at 903- 536-2531.

The educational topics covered during this workshop include: Wild Pig Biology, Impacts and Control Techniques; Laws and Regulations for Hunting Wild Pigs; Wild Pig Transportation Regulations; Wild Pig Safety and Disease Concerns; Development of an Oral Toxicant for Wild Pigs; and a demonstration of Snaring/Trapping of Wild Pigs. Attendees with Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicator licenses may earn four continuing education units (CEUs) – 2 general, 1 IPM, 1 Laws & Regulation - for their participation in this workshop (pending).
